Sandy S.'s Story

Newport, ME

David was the love of my life, my best friend and my soulmate.

Why would hospitals give a medicine that is more damaging than to use what has been working?

Sent Home to Get Worse

“He called to tell me to come pick him up as there was nothing “that” hospital could do for him..”

I don’t even know how to begin this story. It started 12/06/2021 when both My husband and I tested positive for Covid. Neither of us were symptomatic except I had lost the ability to taste and smell. Two days later, David was in such pain he couldn’t stand it anymore. He didn’t want to go to the hospital originally as we knew people who were dying in hospital left and right but he just couldn’t stand it anymore. Then he got so nauseous and weak that I called an ambulance. I knew it was probably the last time I would see him for at least 2 weeks.

Later that evening he called to tell me to come pick him up as there was nothing “that” hospital could do for him. You see all they had was Remdesivir for a treatment. This he refused because of the side effects. He already had clotting issues and felt the cure would definitely kill him. So he came home that very same night.

They Gave Him Remdesivir Anyways

Two days later he was worse and we took him to Augusta hospital, an hour away. I won’t go on and on about the way we were treated at that hospital. We felt like “lepers”. When I finally was called by a doctor, several days later, he told me that David was riding the storm. They told me he was receiving his 3rd dose of Remdesivir. THIRD? I asked. In which he replied, “Yes he will receive 5 IV doses.” I was shocked but I wasn’t able to fight as they would not let me in. This went on for 2 weeks. We had 2 zoom meetings and finally the doctor said he would be able to come home if he could get up and walk the hallway. I should point out that David usually wore hearing aids but due to the equipment he was on, high pressure bipap and 02, he couldn’t hear anyway. I don’t know if he didn’t know he was getting Remdesivir or not. Mind you, not once was he in ICU, not once was he placed on a respirator and NOT ONCE was he given a bath. By the time I was allowed in to see him I couldn’t believe my eyes. He had asked the doctor for a CT scan as he knew something was wrong. You see, David was a retired PA so he knew a little about medicine and he definitely knew his body.

Set Up For Death

“He knew he wasn’t going to make it so he asked to go home.”

I was already to bring him home in a couple of days when we were told he had blood clots in both lungs. This prompted an ultrasound of his legs which showed the same thing in both legs. He knew he wasn’t going to make it so he asked to go home. This was arranged on hospice care. We brought him home Friday and he was gone Monday night. I have no doubt in my mind it was the Remdesivir. The first is a picture of David before the hospital and the second one is what he looked like after Remdesivir. Note the swelling of the tongue and the scabs all over his lips. David was the love of my life, my best friend and my soulmate. The entire family is devastated. Why would hospitals give a medicine that is more damaging than to use what has been working in so many hospitals?
