I have no doubt that she would be alive today if family had been there to advocate on her behalf.
I have no doubt the hospital staff would have taken our concerns more seriously if we had been there.

“Calls to her Doctor were not returned..”
My mother went into Kansas Medical Center in Andover KS for a heart valve surgery. She was not allowed to have family with her due to Covid protocols. The surgery appeared to have gone well and mom talked to my dad and sister on the phone. But as the day progressed the calls and texts became concerning as her condition seemed to be deteriorating.
Calls to the nurses at first were "she is just tired from surgery". Later as her condition got worse, calls were not returned and my sister's and dad's concerns were ignored. My mother had bowel issues after a hysterectomy many years ago and that information was known by the hospital staff. Calls to her Doctor were not returned.
Isolation Kills
Suddenly the family was called to the hospital. While she was not allowed family support before, during, or after surgery, it was suddenly Ok for family to be allowed into the hospital. I have no doubt that she would be alive today if family had been there to advocate on her behalf. I have no doubt the hospital staff would have taken our concerns more seriously if we had been there. And don't get me started on her Doctor. Quite possibly the most arrogant human being on the face of the earth.
