Hope S.'s Story

Augusta, GA

I told them they killed my dad and they called security and I was taken out.

The nurse called me a dumb ass and we were not able to see my daddy for 21 days.

Careless Health

“Some people come in and die and some people get better and we just don’t know why your dad isn’t getting better.”

My daddy was a veteran and he served 20 years. He became sick so I called the ambulance and he agreed to go to the hospital but only if he went to Fort Gordon, our military hospital. But once they loaded him in the ambulance they took him to Doctors hospital of Augusta on September 28,202. I told them not to give him the drug Remdesivir, Dexamethasone, and Vancomycin. The nurse called me a dumb ass and we were not able to see my daddy for 21 days. I was able to give my dad his cell phone and he would call us crying saying they weren’t coming in helping. They weren’t feeding him and he wanted to give up. He couldn’t do it anymore. I called and spoke to the doctor who was in my daddy’s room and told him my dad was not getting food and he said “He is on the bipap mask, do you want him breathing or you want him to eat?” I said both. Put a feeding tube in. He said they can’t do that then I told him my dad is giving up, we need to get in to see him. He turned and yelled at my dad and said “Is that right, you are giving up?” and then said “Some people come in and die and some people get better and we just don’t know why your dad isn’t getting better.”

Fighting For Life

My dad said he will fight and mind you every day they told him to go on the Ventilator and he would say no. When I finally could go in and see my dad he told me to watch out for his doctor. He called him doctor death!!! I begged them to put my dad on Ivermectin. They said they could not because it is for horses. The same hospital gave a friend of mine in the ER Ivermectin so I told them that and they still refused!! We got the call that they were putting my dad on the ventilator that he had no choice and they said he would be on it for 5 days to let his lungs rest. Well on the 5th day they said they never told us that and my daddy was on the vent for 7 days.

I did speak to someone from the frontline doctor. Her name was Kristy and she helped find a drug that was helping Covid patients from Emory Hospital in Atlanta. The doctor’s name was Bartlett and his treatment was Budesonide 1mg every 4 hours. I asked the charge nurse to start him on it and she went and ask the doctor and he agreed to it but they did not keep their word they gave I’m the Budesonide but only 2.5 mil and they had it every 12 hours, they gave it to him that morning and I was their then they were supposed to give it to him in the evening. They said they did and when I dug in the trash there was only 1 budesonide pack from this morning in there. The charge nurse came in the room and was asking a bunch of questions if I thought my dad was getting the treatment he deserved. I said no and she said we were going to meet with the whole team but we couldn’t then because it was a Saturday so we were going to meet on Monday.

Stripped Of Patient Rights

“ She said dexamethasone and I said I told the doctor not to put him on that.”

My family went up there on Monday and was given the runaround. We didn’t meet with anyone and my daddy was being put on dialysis because his kidneys were failing. The whole family was in the waiting room and they would only let my mom back to see him and the doctor came in and said they took an eye test and my dad’s eye didn’t react. They said he was brain dead so my mom had the doctor come talk to me. Instead, he let the nurse tell me he was brain dead. I asked for an EEG and she said that doesn’t tell you if he is brain dead and said they couldn’t do the budesonide the way we wanted to. I asked why and she said he was on a steroid. I said no he is not and I asked what he was on. She said dexamethasone and I said I told the doctor not to put him on that. I was told to leave and went back to the waiting room. I spoke with a hospital patient advocate and he pretty much said he had to agree with his doctors.

My daddy coded and the nurse came so we ran to his room as they were beating on my dad’s chest and my mom was screaming. I told them they killed my dad and they called security and I was taken out. They asked my daughter what she wanted them to do. He had blood coming out of his nose and mouth and she told them to stop CPR. My dad was pronounced dead on October 25, 2021. It has almost been a year and I am still waiting for justice for my dad!!! Now we are left heartbroken and lost without my daddy!!
